Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Department International Research Center for Telecommunications and Radar Date 2011-12-31 Abstract The effectiveness of a cavity for dual-band patch radiator with a frequency ratio of 1.65:1 is analysed. The use of cavities can help in maintaining impedance matching, reducing the levels of mutual coupling between the elements as well as in containing the surface waves, aspects vital to array performance. Results demonstrate that with the use of cavity, the active impedance characteristic of the element is maintained when used in a linear array. Simulation results reiterating the cavity’s performance with respect to reflection coefficient and E-field distribution are provided.
