It is investigated how much the subjective traffic safety perceived by the users of the environment can be objectively explained. In that way it can be determined how much influence a municipality has, in its role as road authority, in influencing the perceived traffic safety. In the research a new process desing for municipalities is presented when they want to increase the perceived traffic safety in school zones.
