Contributor De Borst, R. (promotor) Van Brummelen, E.H. (promotor) Faculty Aerospace Engineering Department Mechanics, Aerospace Structures & Materials Date 2009-06-05 Abstract The simulation of complex physical phenomena, such as fluid–structure interaction, appears to be within reach in view of the significant progress in computing power over the last decades. Yet, we are still far away from what is desirable in an evermore-demanding, science-and-technology-based society. If, however, we are modest with what we need of a physical system in that we ask for specific goal quantities instead of the entire solution, then we are able to save tremendous amounts of computing effort.
