Contributor Scharpenberg, M. (mentor) Faculty Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering Department Precision and Microsystems Engineering Programme Engineering Mechanics Date 2015-12-14 Abstract This work focuses on a multidisciplinary design optimization of an aircraft wing. Among others, a structural optimization of the wing stiffness is performed. For a certain stiffness model, a set of relevant load cases can be determined that have high chance to cause active constraints. The purpose of this research is to investigate if the set of relevant load cases changes, when a wing stiffness modification occurs. If changes in the relevant set of load cases are small, the decision can be made to calculate a constant set of relevant load cases, in order to reduce computation time in the optimization routine.
