Spinal boards are designed for the fixation and immobilization of patients. These spinal boards although are often the cause for pressure ulcer and hypothermia. Pressure ulcer is caused by prolonged pressure on the patients lying on the spinal board. Hypothermia is often caused by the prolonged exposure to a cold environment. The design consists of a pressure relieving surface which will be applied on current spinal boards. The pressure relieving surface has chemical heating pads which are able to provide heat to the patient while fixated. The key aspect for reducing the pressure on the patient is increasing the contact area with the patient and the pressure relieving surface. The product was build in a form of a prototype and measurements were performed which indicated pressure reduction of pressure to 70 mmHg for almost all patients.
