Contributor Brezet, J.C. (promotor) Spitas, C. (promotor) Faculty Industrial Design Engineering Department Design Engineering Date 2010-12-14 Abstract It is impossible to imagine life without portable electronics like the laptop computer and cell phone. All these products are powered by a battery, granting them grid independence and all-round protability. Connectivity to the internet and an increase of functionality demands for a better battery. The d1irect methanol fuel cell (DMFC) system could be a solution to this demand. In this thesis the feasibility of DMFC systems is researched by developing different orders of mathematical models. These quantitative models help the product designer to test the feasibility of DMFC systems as a battery alternative during concept design.
