Meanwhile due to expansion and population growth of the city, more recreational spaces are needed. The idea is to use the abundant dredged material from the Port of Rotterdam to fill in and construct intertidal wetland parks in some of these old harbours. They will serve as natural habitats for different types of flora and fauna such as migratory birds. These intertidal parks are also ideal recreational spaces for residents. This multidisciplinary project aims to provide a conceptual design of a tidal wetland in the Maashaven harbour. In this report, a general design is presented, and special attention is paid to technical issues that may occur in the construction process.
