 Abstract

Prodn. of a support contg. Al2O3 with an active component and/or precursor for this is carried out by the sol/gel technique by (a) producing a sol from AlCl3 or material forming Al2O3, (b) supplying the sol to the top of a column filled with a water-immiscible solvent (I) in the upper pt. and an alkaline aq. soln. (II) contg. the active component (III) or precursor in soln. and/or complexed form in the lower pt., so that particles with the required texture are formed in the lower pt., (c) sepg. the particles from the liq., and (d) drying and calcining the particles.
