This is important for applications where the EV is charged from intermittent renewable energy sources like wind or solar. Dynamic charging can be implemented using three standards - AC charging, DC charging via Chademo and CCS/COMBO. This paper compares the charging standards in their implementation of dynamic charging and vehicle to grid (V2X) and brings out its influence on the charging system design, response time, flexibility in charging from renewable sources and buffer capacity that is required. Experimental results of dynamic charging using Chademo and CCS/COMBO are presented for different compatible EV that shows the fundamental difference between the two standards.
