 Abstract

In this paper the known upper and lower bounds for the Steinitz constant, found by Grinberg, Sevas'yanov, Banaszczyk, and B ar any are examined and more extensive proofs are given for those - and more general - results. Furthermore a new - optimal - lower bound for the Steinitz constant of a two dimensional l_1-normed space is given.
