Additionally, new trends are visible with the potential to increase the severity of these challenges in future decades; these are for example, climate change, which is causing longer droughts and more severe floods; population growth; and economic growth that are expected to impact drinking water consumption patterns and the demand for sanitation services. These elements and challenges all relate to the underlying challenges towards creating a sustainable freshwater supply and sanitation services for Greater Maputo. This thesis combines an exploration of integral solutions to these challenges, with the Dynamic Adaptive Policy Pathways (DAPPs) approach, resulting in an answer to the following research question.
