Post disaster Urban Redevelopment reviewing the community participation approach

The research has been initiated with the aim to investigate the community participation levels in the different stages of the Post Disaster Urban Redevelopment phases. This research has investigated four different time moments. Namely the immediate situation after the tsunami (t=0), one year after the disaster had occurred (t=1), four year after the event, and the last one (t=3), which illustrates the situation during the field visit. In each moment the level of participation has been measured by making use of the ladder of participation of Arnstein. A model was created to depict that. Thereafter an new suggested model was designed, which was based on the outcomes of the research. Some changes have been made in order to support a more sustainable outcome of the redevelopment programs.
