(mentor) Faculty Architecture Department Urbanism Date 2008-04-01 Abstract A decision taking method is proposed where inhabitants and experts will communicate in order to define the most desired spatial configuration for the area. Marowijne is a region in Suriname where small villages fighting with the conditions to survive are proposed to join forces in a network of clusters. A design method is proposed baseed on the idea that different parameters such as actions, conditions, desires, connectivity and patterns define urban space. By changing the parameters different spatial configurations are brought forward and their combination on larger scale gives design alternatives for the region. An evaluation of the results having as a criteria the sustainable formation of a balanced network will help the inhabitants deside which is the urban space they would like to inhabit.
