This paper comprises an introduction and explanation of two promising contextual water use strategies for the United Nations Headquarters. This building brings along many possibilities of sustainable water use, thanks to its position over a former bay draining into major tidal strait. The chosen strategies are primarily related to energy use and production. Both the use of roof ponds for evaporative cooling and the energy potential from tidal currents are analyzed for feasibility.
