(TU Delft Geo-engineering) Gavin, Kenneth (TU Delft Geo-engineering) Date 2017 Abstract The present report overviews the 22 contributions submitted to the session on offshore geotechnics held by Technical Committee (TC) 209 at the 19th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ICSMGE). Following a general discussion on the nature (fundamental or applied) of the papers included in this session, some topical highlights are presented. The content of 2017 TC209 session confirms the close collaboration between researchers and industry in this area as the topics and focus directly address the current needs of the offshore industry. In particular, the growing interest around offshore wind developments is clear with numerous contributions on the performance of foundation systems during installation and operation. Other applications to more traditional oil and gas and coastal/nearshore geo-engineering are also addressed, as well as a few fundamental studies on difficult soil conditions, in-situ testing and novel numerical methods for large deformation problems.
