Abstract

This lecture is organized in conjunction with The Dutch National History Museum Project.

Willem Jan Neutelings established Neutelings Riedijk Architects in Rotterdam in 1992 after working as a part of Neutelings Roodbeen Architects and before that, at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). Neutelings Riedijk has realized a number of prominent projects in the Netherlands and in Belgium including the Veenman Printshop, the Minnaert Building for Utrecht University, and the STUK Arts Center. Notable housing projects include the Sphinxes, the IJ-Tower, and Hollainhof. The office’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the biennales of Venice, Rotterdam, Sao Paulo, and Beijing. Neutelings has taught at various architectural institutes and was visiting professor at Harvard University. In 1991, his work was awarded the Rotterdam Maaskant Award for Young Architects. Between 2004 and 2009, he was a member of the supervisory board of the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi).
