Crowding is becoming more and more an important issue in metropolitan areas around the world. It is believed that including the influence of crowding can improve the results of train passenger assignment models; however, in most models this aspect is currently not yet accounted for. This thesis explores the possibilities of how crowding can be included in the train passenger assignment model of the Dutch National Modelling System and how it influences the results.
