Abstract

Andrea Cavalletti is a professor of aesthetics and Italian literature at the IUAV/ University of Venice. He has published essays on literature, philosophy, political philosophy, and urbanism and is the author of La città biopolitica. Mitologie della sicurezza and Classe.

Mark Purcell is an associate professor of urban planning at the University of Washington in Seattle, where his current research concerns urban politics, planning, and political theory, with a particular focus on new ways to conceive of democratic movements for a right to the city. He is the author of Recapturing Democracy: Neoliberalization and the Struggle for Alternative Urban Futures.

Sven-Olov Wallenstein teaches philosophy at the University College of Södertörn and architectural theory at Royal Institutute of Technology, both in Stockholm. He is the editor-in-chief of SITE, the author of several books and essays on contemporary art, philosophy, and aesthetics, and the translator of works by Kant, Frege, Husserl, Heidegger, Levinas, Derrida, and Deleuze. Recent books include Bildstrider: Föreläsningar om estetisk teori (Image Wars: Lectures on Aesthetic Theory); Den sista bilden: det moderna måleriets kriser och förvandlingar (The Last Image: Crises and Transformations of Modern Painting); and Den moderna arkitekturens filosofier (The Philosophies of Modern Architecture), as well as Swedish translations of Immanuel Kant's Critique of Judgement and Gilles Deleuze's The Fold: Leibniz and the Baroque. His most recent book is Biopolitics and the Emergence of Modern Architecture, published in 2009.
