In the not so distant future, depressed urban populations struck by the economic crisis in Greece will leave the urban centres and colonize the countryside, to work in agriculture. The project refers exactly to the social, economic but also philosophical implications posed by the return of the modern society to the landscape of the countryside and the conditions of this return, contemplated upon the design of a new-era agricultural cooperative in a mountainous area in Greece. The project suggests a narrative in which the farmer, is also a scientist & the new peasant is a cosmopolitan urbanite used to the plurality and the pleasures of the city, all moving through a sensual space between natural and artificial. A new Arcadia, mutated by the co-existence of idle pleasure & intense production. A fantasy that refers back to the idea of a lost paradise, redefining the physical & fictional landscape of the countryside.
