Faculty Architecture and The Built Environment Department OTB Research Date 2014-12-31 Abstract We introduce a new approach for the generation and the generalisation of visually smooth depth-contours for hydrographic charts. Unlike most current approaches, it strictly respects the safety constraint that dictates that the resulting chart may not indicate a depth shallower than originally measured. The main idea is to construct a smooth surface using a Voronoi-based interpolation method. This surface is represented using a triangulation, modified using a series of generalisation operators, and ultimately depth-contours are extracted directly from this surface. We report on experiments made with real-world datasets, and we compare our results with existing approaches To reference this document use: http://resolver.tudelft.nl/uuid:707ab42a-7546-42cc-a287-10b6df22157d Publisher Taylor and Francis Embargo date 2015-12-31 ISSN 0149-0419 Source Marine Geodesy: an international journal of ocean surveys, mapping and sensing, 37(2)2014; Authors version Part of collection Institutional Repository Document type journal article Rights (c) 2014 The Authors Files PDF 305359.pdf 14.18 MB Close viewer /islandora/object/uuid:707ab42a-7546-42cc-a287-10b6df22157d/datastream/OBJ/view
