AbstractMaravilla School Gymnasium and lecture rooms, Alejandro de la Sota, Geschwister-Scholl-School, Hans Scharoun, Lünen, Germany, 1956–62 Jointly organized by the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam and the Department of Architecture at the Delft University of Technology as part of the Twelve Institutional and Public Buildings Revisited, 1928–1968 seminar series Convened by Tom Avermaete, Salomon Frausto, and Max Risselada Hugh Campbell is a professor and, since 2009, dean of architecture at the University College Dublin. In 1998, Campbell received the first PhD in Architecture to be awarded by the University College Dublin, with a dissertation on the politics of urban development in nineteenth-century Dublin. Campbell’s current research activity includes an ongoing series of papers on photography, space, and the self and a major Royal Irish Academy project, the Art and Architecture of Ireland, a five volume work to be published by Yale University Press in 2014. Recent publications include essays on Hans Scharoun’s Philharmonie, and the photography of Philip Lorca-diCorcia. He is co-editor, with Rolf Loeber, of volume 4 of Architecture in Ireland 1600 - 2000. In 2008, Campbell co-curated Ireland's exhibition at the Venice Biennale, entitled The Lives of Spaces. |
