Moulijn, J.A. Date 1993 Abstract Abstract of NL 9102029 (A) Described is an arrangement for carrying out TAP experiments. Such an arrangement comprises a reaction chamber in which a very short-lived beam of molecules is directed at a target to produce a short-lived beam of intermediate-product molecules, and a vacuum chamber where said intermediate-product molecules travel from the reaction chamber to a detection apparatus. According to the invention, an arrangement of this type has been essentially improved by the reaction chamber being located outside the vacuum chamber. As a result, the vacuum chamber can be smaller, the vacuum can be better and be achieved more rapidly, and operations can be carried out on the reaction chamber without the vacuum being lost, so that the overall arrangement is ready for use more rapidly.; Moreover, reactions can be carried out in the reaction chamber under realistic conditions, i.e. at a pressure which differs substantially from high vacuum.
