Title Experiment Centrale Beheersing Tramverkeer.: Opslag en verwerking van automatisch geregistreerde gegevens, verzameld op het Surinameplein, Osdorpplein en Dijkgraafplein, van tramlijn 1 in Amsterdam Author De Haan, C. However, irregularity causes troubles for the customer as well as the public transport authorities, because delays decrease capacity and therefore imply high costs. In 1974 the Ministry of Transport and Public Works initiated a study concerned with the possible effects of contolling regularity and punctuality. It was decided to conduct a controle experiment to prove the possible gains. Line 1 of the public transport network in Amsterdam was chosen because of its peak-hour frequency and its free lane covering 70% of the route. A study group was formed consisting of members from the Ministy of Transport and Public Works, Amsterdam transport officials and engineers from the Delft University of Technology. On 26 Februari 1980 measurements were taken at 10 points along the line. In the future automatic data acquisition will take place at these points, so a reference will be available when controll of regularity actually becomes reality. Some results found by means of this measurement are discussed in this report. An inquiry like this has the disadvantage that it is based on measurement of one day: many incidential factors can be of influence. Therefore, automatic data acquisition has been started at three points along the line. Because data collected is not suited as is for processing with a computer, in this report a discription of a method of data handling will be offered. After this the data is ready to be placed in a data base. The design of this data base is discribed in this report. The data is now ready for interpretation. The data collected during 8 Saturdays in the period from Januari to April 1981 has been interpreted.
