Abstract

Piet Oudolf is a garden and landscape designer. He is a leading figure of the New Perennial Mvement, using bold drifts of herbaceous perennial plants and grasses which are chosen for their structure as much as for their flower color.

His design projects include the High Line and Battery Park in New York City; ABN Amro Bank and Hoogeland in the Netherlands; the Lurie Garden, in collaboration with Kathryn Gustafson a gigantic green roof over the car park of Millennium Park (Chicago, 200, in Chicago; and Scampston Hall in England. He is also the designer of the interior garden of the 2011 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London, in collaboration with the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.

His books include Gardening With Grasses, Dream Plants for the Natural Garden, Planting the Natural Garden, Designing With Plants, and Planting Design: Gardens in Time and Space.
